Tricubes Poetry
The tricube poetic form is a relatively modern poetic structure characterized by its simplicity and mathematical basis (to the third power). It was created by poet Philip Larrea in 2001.
Rules of a tricube:
- Each line contains three syllables.
- Each stanza contains three lines.
- Each poem contains three stanzas.
No rules for rhymes, meter, etc. Just three, three, and three.
Despite its brevity, the tricube form can offer a structured challenge for poets to convey meaning concisely and creatively within the constraints of its form.
Today’s Challenge
Write a tricube poem inspired by the arrival of spring. Capture the essence of renewal, growth, or the beauty of nature emerging from winter’s grasp. Focus on the imagery of blossoming flowers, chirping birds, or rejuvenated landscapes in just 27 syllables.
